Machiavelli, Pakistan and the World

Nobody talks about the author of "The Prince", but this is the de-listed, yet simultaneously required political handbook for anybody who wants to enter politics. In Pakistan, one sometimes feels that Machiavellian behaviour is second nature amongst many. In more developed countries though, an attempt is constantly made to banish Machiavellian behaviour from public, and even private lives. That no such effort is made or acknowledged in Pakistan, even when neighbouring India at least attempts to do it, is telling of what one could generally describe as "Pakistani" behaviour.

P.S Freedom of Information acts are a decidedly anti-Machiavellan thing. I am pretty sure if Niccolo was a political consultant today, he would advise him not to allow any FOI Act to exist, if the politician could get away with it.
